The Swaziland Lilangeni is the legal tender of the Kingdom of Swaziland, with the ISO code SZL, issued and managed by the country's central bank, the Central Bank of Swaziland.
The Swaziland Lilangeni circulates for use only within the landlocked South African country of Swaziland (now officially known as the Kingdom of Eswatini).
The primary unit is the lirangini and the secondary unit is the cent, with 1 lirangini = 100 cents. Denominations of banknotes in circulation include 10/20/50/100/200 lirangeni, and coins are 1/2/5 lirangeni and 1/2/5/10/20/50 cents.
The currency replaced the South African rand as an independent legal tender in 1974 and was initially pegged to the rand equivalent. It still maintains a fixed 1:1 exchange rate with the South African Rand through the Common Monetary Area, and both currencies are common in Swaziland.
