The Brunei Dollar is the official currency of Brunei Darussalam, issued and managed by the Brunei Monetary Authority, with the currency code BND and the common symbol B$.
The Brunei Dollar circulates mainly within Brunei and has a fixed exchange rate system of 1:1 with the Singapore Dollar, which can be used unconditionally in Singapore in equal value.
The Brunei Dollar is divided into coins and banknotes: coin denominations include 1, 5, 10, 20, and 50 cents; and banknotes have denominations of 1, 5, 10, 50, 100, 500, and 1,000 Yuan.
The Brunei Dollar was first issued in 1967 to replace the Malayan Dollar, and its value was stabilized through an exchange rate linkage with the Singapore Dollar.
